Participants in the Hear Me Project will be paired with a small group of up to five people with whom they will both listen and respond to the personal thoughts and/or questions of the other group members. Each small group is a circle of confidentiality which means all group members pledge to keep the information which is said in the group within the group. During the time of sharing there will be no debates, derision or demonization of other group members or their opinions. We want each group member to feel that they are listened to and to have space to receive any feedback or responses that may be offered.
The facilitators' primary responsibilities are to set the table for the small groups. This means they will help create an atmosphere of peaceful inclusion through guided meditation and personal modeling of the sharing process. Once the atmosphere has been set and the process modeled, the facilitators will be on hand to help answer questions, guide groups that get stuck or offer feedback in order to ensure that the process moves smoothly and effectively. After the sharing and receiving has ended, the facilitators will close the time with another centering exercise and an affirmation of each individual.
